Tom Hicks led execution of Secretary Mabus’ visionary Navy energy program, managed policy, budget, and strategy matters in several posts, including acting as Under Secretary of the Navy, created Energy Star for buildings at U.S. EPA, and led the LEED program at the USGBC.
Thomas Oppel was chief of staff to Secretary Mabus for eight years at Navy. A former journalist, Oppel founded and ran his own communications consulting company after serving as Mabus’ Communications Director in his gubernatorial campaign and administration.
Meredith Berger has a unique ability to shape strategy, policy, and processes for organizations operating in emerging and high-stakes environments, and has experience in national security, cyber security, media and elections, climate change, energy, and social innovation. Meredith has served in high-level roles in the Department of the Navy, Department of Defense, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the State of Florida.
Joe Bryan is Principal at Muswell Orange, LLC, a boutique clean energy consulting firm. Joe previously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy where he was responsible for policies relating to the Department’s installation and operational energy programs. Joe’s tenure at Navy was marked by efforts to improve energy resiliency, promote investments in energy efficiency and distributed generation, and rethink mobility on Navy and Marine Corps installations.
Prior to his appointment, Joe led investigations for the Senate Armed Services Committee. He also previously served on the professional staffs of the Senate's Select Committee on Intelligence and Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. Joe has consulted on energy policy in Namibia and South Africa and began his career working on electricity restructuring and state-level policies to encourage the growth of clean energy markets. He is a Senior Fellow with the Atlantic Council's Global Energy Center.
Kendall Simonds is an Associate at the Mabus Group. Passionate about strategic management and creative problem solving, she previously worked with nonprofit and advocacy groups contributing to international gender initiatives, cancer advocacy in Congressional legislation, and in founding the nation’s first tuition-free, student-centered high school. Kendall is a native of Boise, Idaho and a graduate of the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University.
Noor Aamer is an assistant at the Mabus Group. Noor has recently graduated from the Catholic University of America with a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering with minors in Chemistry and Neuroscience. Noor was born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq and moved to the DC area in 2012.
