Britt Boughey, P.E.

Britt Boughey guides development and commercialization of new energy technologies, working in both conversion technologies and storage, including alternative fuels. Britt founded OMC Hydrogen to develop a low-cost, scalable thermochemical green hydrogen and syngas solution. He also founded Beryl Renewables, where he provides consulting services.

In the commercial sector, Britt has consulted a wide range of projects, including identifying promising future technologies for the utilization of lignocellulosic biomass, emerging trends in the renewable fuels markets for jet and diesel fuels, and the future of energy storage technologies for residential applications. He has supported successful capital raises and grant funding applications.

Britt served as an operational energy technology and economics expert to the Department of Navy under Secretary Ray Mabus. There he helped guide investments in operational energy capabilities that enabled naval forces to go further and faster, stay longer, and field the systems needed to win on future battlefields. He led the DON analyses and investment recommendations in the USDA, DOE, and DON $510 million combined alternative fuels efforts, which included the construction of two biorefineries and the purchase of over 203 million gallons of naval distillate blended with renewable fuels. Prior to consulting for DON, Britt led technical efforts at DARPA and AFRL.

Retiring with 20 years of service in the Navy at the rank of Commander, Britt spent 10 years as a reservist, mostly at the Office of Naval Research, conducting research, test assistance, and Fleet coordination to expedite the naval use of new technologies. In Homeland Defense Integration & Defense Support of Civil Authorities, he led collaborative efforts between Defense, federal, and state agencies to plan and execute disaster response efforts. Britt spent 10 years on active duty flying the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet, where he flew and instructed in the art of strike fighter missions in heavily defended war zones.

Britt has a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University, an MBA from Touro College, and is a licensed Professional Engineer (Mechanical) in the state of Maryland.
